Converting to Natural Gas

An abundant, reliable source of energy (if it's available in your neighborhood)

  • If your neighborhood has Natural Gas, tapping into it for your home's heating system could be a wise investment. Natural Gas provides access to the most energy-efficient and clean-burning appliances on the market.
  • With Natural Gas, you'll never having to worry about filling your tank as you will always have a steady stream of fuel delivered through the piping in your home.
  • Natural Gas is a versatile fuel that can be used for heating, hot water, cooking and other outdoor applications like grills, fire pits, pool heaters and backup generators.
  • After converting from oil to gas, you may also qualify for further rebates and home energy-saving upgrades like home insulation for 1/4th of the price through Rhode Island Energy / National Grid.
  • The process to convert an Oil home to a Natural Gas home will take the Gas Doctor between one and two days. This doesn't include the time that it is required for the gas company to come out and install the piping. This is where a 24-hour service company like Gas Doctor makes a difference.

Converting to Propane

A versatile fuel that can be used for heating, cooking and a whole lot more

  • Propane is an excellent alternative to oil heat that allows for entire home comfort.
  • In addition to home heating and water heaters, propane can be used with a propane-fired stove or range.
  • Propane can also be used outdoors for grills, fire pits , heaters, tiki torches and pool heaters.
  • Propane keeps you comfortable through a backup generator when the power goes out.
  • Propane is delivered in a liquid form and is then changed to a gas before it leaves the tank. Propane is measured in water capacity, or the equilivent capacity of the tank if filled with water.
  • Propane tanks must be a certain distance from your home depending on the size. Tanks under 125 gallon capacity can be set right against your home. Tanks 125-249 gallon capacity must be 10 feet from the home. Tanks over 250 gallons must be 25 feet from the home.
  • The conversion process is quick and easy with Gas Doctor since we handle everything. We can have your entire system installed, guaranteed within two weeks.
